Born Steven Bonner, 17/02/1986. When 8 years old, Steven remembers listening to the Outhere Brothers song "Boom Boom Boom" (a dancey track with rap lyrics) and it became the 1st song that he couldnt get enough of. It was the sheer energy of the track he says that really got him. This was the beginning. But it was at the age of 13, he started to really get into music and was listening to the popular hip hop artists at that time: Tupac, Biggie, Dmx, Nas, Wu-tang etc... but the first album that blew him away was Eminems' "The Marshall Mathers LP". "This was an album that really moved me mentally and the uproar it caused when it was released just added even more to the album. Also hearing a white rapper who could not only rap in a credible way, but who had such a viciously aggressive style and such crazy lyrics was a breath of fresh air to me and certainly had made him one of my favourite rappers at the time." - Deep Reasoning At the tender age of 15, he found himself listening to an incredible amount of hip hop. Strangely, it took 2 years for him to realise his ambition, that he should be an emcee and at the age of 17 he penned his 1st properly structured verse (16 bars). This verse started off with the idea of suffocating George Bush with his pillowcase...This automatically bestowed in him a passion for rhyming words and eventually style with immense pace. He started to pen ridiculously fast raps for kicks, this carved out a much wanted path for the teenager at the time. After that he was writing rhyme after rhyme after rhyme and started rapping his words in a somwhat fast style as it developed flow. He says "I'm a huge fan of Big L, Big Pun and Jay-Z's earlier work, it got me amped up when i listened to them" When he was studying for his leaving, he says he had raps embedded in his notes for every single subject and it was such a distraction to him, except for learning poetry which he added rhythm to for to learn. As soon as he finished his Leaving Cert, he lashed into songs and wrote nearly 30 (songs) in about a fortnight. The obsession was growing at an alarming rate as he naively went in search of a dj/producer without much success. At the age of 19, he finally joined forces with a surprisingly talented producer called David Howard, who produced his 1st album entitled "The Quintessential LP". His beats had soul and coincided with Reasonings' lyrics and delivery very well which was slowed down greatly to co-incide with the balance of the respective songs. The album itself containing 10 songs was completed within a 2 month time period (whilst dealing with several other commitments). Due to their mutual dedication and passion for music they completed the LP with much thought and care and are still very proud of it. Deep Reasoning says: "It was something that came together very fast and we learned a lot about what we could do artistically, which became almost limitless after the first month." There were a few songs however that did not make the album namely "Blessed", "Walk The Line", "Flow of Life" and "Never Look Back". These songs are far more introspective in nature compared to the songs on the album but still hold immense value to Reasoning, particularly "Blessed" a song with a personal guide into spiritual enlightenment and one of his finest works lyrically, unfortunately the beat didnt compliment the emotion of the songs' words. "I wouldn't mind giving that one a re-run! I took on a new direction with it but the beat didn't compliment it in the way i would've liked unfortunately. I write a shit load of tracks; almost one a day so I've got so much to show to the world and I'm gonna demonstrate what I'm capable of doing through as many mediums as I can." "Walk The Line" was the 1st track they worked on together and acted as a stepping stone towards finding their musical path. Work on a new album has begun and Deep Reasoning is ready to be heard. Look out for "In Dublin" on DCFE 's "ourspace" album in stores now. Currently at Number 5 in the Irish Compilation Charts!.
